The National FOP has found a disturbing story on social web-sites and other electronic media describing an agreement between the FOP and Kayne West. The spoof article on a web site called Call the Cops describes how the FOP has offered membership to West in order to help his image. This is of course a joke as we don't accept civilians into the FOP as members and the National never extends this type of membership. I do appreciate that someone would think we could help his image.
This story is a spoof and I am sure was generated by the web site in answer to West's claim that his job was similar than that of a police officer.
We have directed General Counsel to send the site a Cease and Desist letter but the story will obviously go viral and will run the course of most issues that float on the internet.
Please make sure to inform your members that this story is just another world wide web spoof and that all stories on the internet require close scrutiny.
