Kathy Taylor to Speak Email (Oct. 1, 2013)
Updated On: Nov 26, 2013

Tulsa FOP Members,

This Wednesday (tomorrow) we have one of our regular Lodge meetings at 7:00 P.M.  We will also have a guest speaker at the beginning of the meeting, Mayoral Candidate Kathy Taylor.  Mayor Taylor will be speaking with our members and guests about the upcoming mayor’s race and why she wants to lead the city again.  There will also be an audio/visual presentation.  We hope you all come and hear what she has to say.  There will be an opportunity to ask her questions so come prepared.  We hope to pack the house as this could be one of the most important mayoral elections ever for police officers and City workers in general.

Mayor Bartlett’s former chief of staff, Terry Simonson, is back on the political scene lately and is bragging about how Bartlett did the right thing by telling the “unions” to “take a cut or take a hike”.  They continue to run on the idea that unions and contracts like ours are bad for the city.  Of course they still have not offered step increases in negotiations and we are very close to going to arbitration.  Those steps were promised to every officer when they were recruited and hired as long as he or she received a satisfactory evaluation.  We can’t even fill an academy class of 23 because there aren’t enough qualified candidates.  This is no doubt due to our not being competitive in the region or even in the metro area in wages!

Feel free to bring your friends and family members for this part of the evening.  After Mayor Taylor’s remarks and the question/answer session, we will have our regular Lodge meeting with members only.  Guests will be welcome to say in the building and can adjourn to the TV room or kitchen area.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 918-550-1624 or jcaswell@tulsafop93.org.
