What is being done to ease the burden created by EDP transports?

Lodge Question : We regularly transport Emotionally Disturbed Persons accross the State when beds are not available locally.  This often leaves the field shorthanded.  EDP calls traditionally increase around the holidays. Suggestions have been made to schedule the transports or to use a hireback system similar to how we meet minimum manning.  Will something be done the ease the burden?
Chief Jordan Answer: We are currently looking at several options to ease the burden and ultimately get us completely out of the EDP transport business. Some include initiatives to the Governor to keep municipalities from having to transport. Major Lewis has been working non-stop to find ways to get us some relief. In the short term, I will discuss the possibility of a hireback system with the staff.
